The training program must include at least 16 hours of instruction in topics such as orientation, general security guard duties, legal powers and limitations of security, emergency response procedures, legal restrictions on the use of a firearm, handling of a firearm, safety and maintenance of weapons, and marksmanship training.

Get Your Armed Security License in Tennessee

To obtain an armed security license in Tennessee, you must be at least 21 years old and have a clean criminal record. You must also pass a background check conducted by Private Protective Services. This background check is completed by searching TBI and FBI databases with the applicant’s electronic fingerprints.
  
The armed security license class cost is $160.00, and the electronic fingerprinting cost is $35.15. The State of Tennessee armed security guard license fee is $105. Once you have completed the training program and obtained your license, you are authorized to work as an armed security guard in Tennessee.
